RAT: Hour Fourteen

Getting sleeeeeppyyyy...  I was distracted THIS time around by TV and I took a break to play a game on my Kindle, too.  I just needed to take a break from reading.  I'll probably get another hour or so in, but, honestly, I'm kind of feeling like going to bed.

Title of book(s) read since last update:  Chromosome 6 by Robin Cook.
Number of books read since you started:  part of two books; one magazine.
Pages read since last update:  20

Mini-challenges completed:  Opening meme; Traveler's Log; Readathon Memories; Thrills and Chills;
Other participants you’ve visited:  None, yet.
What I've eaten/drunk:  Coffee; two Eggos with margarine; water with lime; half a leftover meatball sub; the vaguely racist-sounding "Oriental" flavored ramen noodles; High Road Aztec Chocolate ice cream - do yourself a favor and get some of this stuff; more water; Crab Rangoon; egg drop soup; an egg roll; vegetable fried rice; cashew chicken; sweet and sour chicken.

Going to try to keep plugging along.  My book is good, but my eyes are droopy.

RAT: Wrapping Up Hour Twelve - Halfway Through!

I made good progress over the last two hours.  Hubby has abandoned the Read-a-Thon and now has the living room TV on, so I may not make as much progress in the next two hours.  The good news is that I finished my magazine, and I am now on to a medical thriller.  This book is the third in the series and, from past experience, should be a fast, engrossing read!

The squirrels are remaining quiet, perhaps they have gone to bed.  I'm getting a little sleepy, so I might make some coffee to try to stay awake.  I will probably take a break around 9:00 to watch a little TV with Hubby and give my eyes a break.  Happy reading!

RAT: Winning in Hour Ten!!!

The squirrels have been behaving themselves in the last two hours, so I've been able to get more reading done.  In the middle of a dinner break right now, so...

Going to try to keep up the momentum!  Let's hope the obnoxious squirrels cooperate.

Dinner time will be upon us in the next couple of hours.  In grand Read-a-Thon tradition, I will NOT be cooking.  I think we'll be ordering Chinese.  So, let's get back to all that reading!!!

RAT: Hour Six and Counting!

Still being distracted by squirrels and Facebook, dammit.  And lunch.  I did take a break to make and eat lunch.  I'm going to buckle down the next couple of hours, because my page total is just pathetic!!!

Okay, doubling down NOW.  I mean, after I do this bookish crossword puzzle for the next challenge!

RAT: Heading Into Hour Five!

Still being distracted by the squirrels and Facebooking about squirrel drama...  But also by challenges.  Not much reading got done these last two hours.

Going to eat lunch now and try to ignore the stupid squirrels. And Facebook.  Facebook is the biggest time suck!

RAT Hour Two

Coming down to the end of Hour Two and I've been a bit distracted.  We currently have a squirrel in our wall and it is driving me NUTS (no pun intended).  Plus Facebook and other stuff.  But I finished a book I'd started pre-Read-a-thon and have now begun some magazine reading!  Hubby is in the bedroom reading comics, while I lounge out on the couch.

Title of book(s) read since last update:  Drowned Ammet by Diana Wynne Jones; Food Network magazine

I'd like to focus more on reading for the next two hours, instead of being distracted by stupid squirrels and whatnot.  Back to it!

Read-a-Thon: Hour Zero

Well, it's been a while since my last RAT.  My birthday weekend complicated things in April, and I can't remember if I participated last October or not.  I think I read, but didn't blog?  Anyway, trying to get back on the blogging wagon...

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?  Overcast South Florida

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?  Finishing my current read, Drowned Ammet.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?  Mmm, the leftover half a meatball sub I have for lunch.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!  I'm a busy lady these days, so I haven't blogged since last summer.  Still reading, slowly, but not at the rate I would like to be.  Oh!  And I just joined my first book club yesterday!!!  Our first meeting is in November!

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?  I wasn't a part of the LAST Read-a-Thon, but I have participated in almost all the other ones.  I'll mostly be using my tried and true methods of slowly consuming one book at a time, though.

Happy reading!
