Castle

Okay, so last night I tuned in to Nathan Fillion's new show, Castle. It's about a thriller writer, a la James Patterson (who guest starred last night, along with Stephen J. Cannell!), who starts working with the police. Richard Castle has just published his latest book, which killed off his main character, Derek Storm. The episode which aired last night was all about how he got started working with the police in the first place: someone was staging murders to resemble the murders in his "lesser works," heh, and he was called in to consult. At the end of the episode, he decides to start writing a new series focused on a detective who greatly resembles the female detective he was helping, and he needs to work with the police force for "research."

At the beginning of last night's episode, the writing was so weak I was rolling my eyes. But by the middle, I was engrossed in the whodunnit. I'll probably tune in again next week, but mostly because I love Nathan Fillion. Although the stunt-casting of Patterson and Cannell as Castle's poker buddies was pretty funny. We'll see if the show can keep it up.

I can rarely get into television any more. It all seems so banal, and I get dizzy from all my eye rolling! But, I'm glad that you enjoyed your episode1

I felt exactly the same way. Love Nathan Fillion, but the show has a long way to go if it is going to gain an audience. I do hope it will improve!

I watched it just now with hubby. It's a fun show. Silly at times, definitely. I probably wouldn't be quite so interested if one of the leads was not "an author" and that "author" wasn't Nathan Fillion. I got a kick out of the poker game. That was a great scene!

I'd much rather be reading, but my soon-to-be-husband is a TV nut. When he's asleep or at work, it stays off, unless there's something I REALLLLLY want to watch, which isn't that often. I make exceptions for House and American Idol (my guilty pleasure). And now this new show, I guess. We'll see how it holds up.

Jenclair:

A little secret: I only watched the show for the Fillion. I had no idea it was about an author. Hee.

I hope the next few episodes are creative enough to keep me interested. And it would be cool if he could get new authors to cameo every week.
